Welcome to CAEP27: STEADFAST - Come Hell or High Water

Dear Emergency Medicine Colleagues,

On behalf of the Scientific Planning Committee, it is our pleasure to invite you to Halifax, Nova Scotia, for the Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians Annual Conference, CAEP27: STEADFAST - Come Hell or High Water, taking place May 16-18, 2027.

Emergency medicine occupies a unique place within Canadian healthcare. We care for patients at their most vulnerable moments, serve as the front door to the healthcare system, and provide care whenever and wherever it is needed.

STEADFAST: Come Hell or High Water reflects that commitment.

The theme speaks to an enduring characteristic of our specialty: a determination to provide exceptional care regardless of the challenges before us. As emergency medicine continues to evolve, we are called not only to respond to today's realities, but to shape tomorrow's solutions through innovation, leadership, scholarship, and collaboration.

CAEP27 will bring together emergency physicians, learners, researchers, educators, administrators, paramedics, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals from across the country to explore the ideas, evidence, and innovations shaping the future of emergency medicine.

Our scientific program has been built around five complementary tracks:

Anchored: Core Clinical Emergency Medicine

The clinical heart of emergency medicine, featuring practical updates in resuscitation, trauma, critical care, diagnostics, and bedside decision-making.

Safe Harbour: Beyond the Walls - Access and Equity

Exploring how and where emergency care is delivered, from prehospital and rural medicine to vulnerable populations, Indigenous health, and disaster response.

Storm Watch: Leading and Sustaining Emergency Medicine

Focusing on leadership, advocacy, operations, quality improvement, wellness, and the people and systems that keep emergency medicine strong.

Uncharted Waters: The Future of Emergency Medicine

Examining emerging technologies, new models of care, artificial intelligence, climate health, and the innovations shaping the future of our specialty.

Making Waves: Research

Showcasing the best of Canadian emergency medicine scholarship while fostering the next generation of researchers and clinician scientists.

Delegates can expect outstanding plenary speakers, cutting-edge research, workshops, simulation, debates, and interactive educational experiences designed to be practical, engaging, and immediately relevant to clinical practice.

CAEP has always been more than a conference. It is where colleagues reconnect, new collaborations begin, learners find mentors, and lifelong professional relationships are formed. That sense of community remains one of the greatest strengths of emergency medicine in Canada.

Set against the backdrop of Halifax's rich maritime history, vibrant culture, and renowned East Coast hospitality, CAEP27 promises to be an exceptional opportunity to learn, connect, and help shape the future of our specialty.

We look forward to welcoming you to Halifax.

STEADFAST.

Come Hell or High Water.

Warm regards,
